When it comes to heterosexual relationships today, there seems to be a misalignment between the sexes.

As the US marriage rate stagnates at around 50%, the number of single adults living by themselves only increases. Contrary to popular belief, young adults are not favoring cohabitation over marriage; they are remaining single instead.

The reasons why it’s so hard for men and women to get (and stay) together today are varied and complex, but our feelings-centered culture and the way we discuss relationships, especially online, definitely play an important part in the outcome. If you take a deep dive into the relationship content online, you’ll come away with the impression that women are suspicious of men, and men are resentful of women.
